Volunteer ESOL Teacher

The Bender JCC of Greater Washington is looking for part-time qualified, experienced volunteer ESL instructors to teach Adult English Literacy Program in person.  We have a fantastic group of learners looking for a fun, creative instructor to help them on their journey of English literacy.  If you enjoy working with immigrants and love teaching English, look no further!
Our first session will begin on October 6, 2021 and end on January 25, 2022.  We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. The center is located at 6125 Montrose, Road, Rockville, MD 20852. Please email your resume and cover letter to mblackman@benderjccgw.org or call (301) 348-3808. Qualifications:
·        A passion for teaching, and an ability to engage, inspire, and teach adult learners from multicultural   backgrounds. 
·      TESOL certification, or a post-secondary degree in adult education, linguistics, or related field is helpful but not required.
·       Experience teaching English, ideally in multicultural settings.
·       Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Duties will include:
 ·       Prepare lesson plans and provide creative reinforcement activities
·        Assess learner’s progress using formal and informal assessments
·        Be respectful, supportive, and encouraging to every student
 ·       Use English as the language of instruction
