The Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy strengthens the countywide adult English literacy network to support a thriving community and effective workforce.

Strategic Plans
MCAEL’s current strategic plan will conclude at the end of 2021.  That plan focused on the following: By 2021, MCAEL will increase the number of learners who are on a pathway to proficiency from 15,000 to 21,000. Additionally, in 2020 MCAEL adopted and is implementing a Race Equity Strategic Plan

Position Overview
The Manager of Network Learning and Development is part of the MCAEL ESOL Program team and part of a current total staff team of six people.  This position is responsible for delivering high-quality programs, training, technical assistance and support to the network of adult English literacy programs and instructors in Montgomery County, with an emphasis on training and development. The person in this position is also charged with helping grow the number of qualified instructors to deepen and widen the range of teachers in the network.  A successful candidate will have adult ESOL instructional experience.  Developing and maintaining relationships with the coalition network to increase learning and skill development in adult education, ESOL instruction, and diversity, equity and inclusion makes up the core of this work.  Additionally, they   are the liaison to the MCAEL Advisory Group, and works with consultants, volunteers and interns to identify needs and deliver services.  They collect, analyze and report critical English literacy data to help determine needs and measure progress.     

The Manager of Network Learning and Development works as part of a team and will be called upon to perform any number of duties, not listed or anticipated here, in fulfillment of the organization’s grants and /or contractual requirements, in association with its growth and / or internal needs, and in achievement of its mission. Some weekend and evening hours are required to accommodate constituents’ needs and community events.
