Today is International Women's Day - a day to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.
For MCAEL in particular supporting women is part of the fabric of our work. In the coalition women support women, How?
- 2 out of 3 learners we serve are women
- 75% of MCAEL ESOL instructors are women
Of those hardest hit by the pandemic are women.
According to the Migration Policy Institute, "Reduced employment among immigrant women means reduced income, increased poverty, and the generation of social assistance needs in immigrant families. In the longer term, it can also lead to skills atrophy and lower lifetime earnings."
We thought it would be a good time to look at some recent data:
Your support today strengthens the work the coalition is doing to help immigrant women acquire the English language skills needed to get better paying jobs, to continue their educations and to start their careers.
Your donation supports the women who are at the forefront of ESOL classes, who devote their careers and volunteer their time to provide quality English instruction. Donate to MCAEL now.
