About

MCAEL is the hub of the coalition, bringing English language service providers together to learn and share, driving a system of continuous improvement.

  • MCAEL provides English language program administrators and instructors from diverse organizations with ties to local communities with professional development opportunities and fosters peer sharing that cultivates continuous learning.
  • MCAEL collects and uses data to identify where additional adult English language classes are needed and to measure the impact of these classes in the community.
  • MCAEL leverages resources and funding to implement a thoughtful, coordinated approach to have the greatest outcomes on an ever-increasing number of immigrant adults.

MCAEL's work focuses on over 126,000 Montgomery County residents identified as Limited English Proficient, as well as the broader community in which they live and work. MCAEL's activities directly support a network of more than 70 adult ESOL and literacy service provider programs, and the more than 1,500 instructors and program staff they employ. More than 7,500 adult learners are served annually through programs funded directly by MCAEL, and more than 15,000 are served by our broader provider network.
