MCAEL looking for Grant Panel Members - Apply Now!

MCAEL looking for Grant Panel Members - Apply Now!

The Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (www.mcael.org) is seeking professionals passionate about literacy to serve on the MCAEL Community Grants Panel in the spring of 2015. Grants will support programs for fiscal year 2016 (July 2015 - June 2016). The panel consists of nonprofit professionals, business leaders, education specialists, and community representatives from around and in the Montgomery County area. (Note: Individuals who are in leadership roles - e.g., staff members or board members, etc - in literacy organizations receiving or applying for grant funding from MCAEL or those who otherwise have a similar conflict of interest are not eligible)

The panel reviews grant applications and makes recommendations to the MCAEL board as to how the  grants money is allocated.  Last year, MCAEL was awarded $910,000 from Montgomery County to use for its grants process.

To apply, please email Kathy Stevens with a letter of application, and resume kstevens@mcael.org . Please email with any questions. Deadline for application is April 3, 2015.

The time commitment consists of 1 evening weekday meeting, 1 half-day weekday meeting and 1 full day weekday meeting as well as time to read the grant applications.  Time frame for commitment is April 2015 – early June 2015.

Some specific skill/geographic areas MCAEL is looking for to build on the current panel include individuals from the business community, individuals from Up County, ESOL practitioners and individuals with varying language backgrounds.

This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are interested in literacy; want to strengthen their own grant writing or learn more about grant processes; are interested in networking with professionals and/or who have a strong desire to build a 21st Century Montgomery through literacy!
