MCAEL Fall Professional Development Institute
 
The foundation of a strong literacy community is a professional network of adult educators and program leaders who are prepared with the skills and knowledge to provide high-quality instruction and to lead successful programs. MCAEL offers workshops for instructors led by local and nationally recognized experts (valued at about $30-80/hour/person) and awards for both staff and instructors. MCAEL Meetings and Workshops are offered at "no-cost" to attendees. Please visit our website to see the events happening around town as well as MCAEL's own workshops and meetings.

MCAEL Instructor Workshop: Did they get it?: Activities as Assessments

Adult learners and their success in language acquisition is at the core of teaching adult ESOL – raison d'être for so many of us being in classes on a weekday evening or weekend morning. For many of us, language teaching/learning meant being in class and then taking a written or oral test. MCAEL Instructor Workshop: 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse…otherwise known as 4 Skills of the Classroom 
December 5, 2014, Friday, 6pm - 9pm  
Teachers in a classroom have limited time, lots of material to cover based on program requirements and student goals to achieve. This can lead to pressure and challenges when deciding what and how to teach that may lead to teacher feeling like the four horsemen (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) are riding behind them ready to bring down his/her classroom.
