MCAEL Provider Meeting: Defining the Adult Learner Population in Montgomery County
Join us for our meeting on October 09, 2013, 1pm - 3pm
At this meeting, providers will explore the National Reporting System Levels and discuss the new and improved MCAEL provider directory. Discussion will center around how individual programs define levels and how the system is working for learners. Are there gaps? Who is going on the waitlists? Providers will also have an opportunity to share who the adult learner is within their program and if the demographics have changed over the past few years. What is your program’s population? How is it similar or different from other programs? Is the adult learner younger now? Has the adult learner been in the U.S. for 10+ years or are there mainly new arrivals in the program?
The second half of the meeting will mainly be focused discussion groups utilizing information from the first half of the meeting and exploring what it means to contextualize a program and how the characteristics of the adult learner shapes the program/classroom. Other ideas that might be addressed (depending on participants) include how programs can address the needs of the learners, help learners make real/measurable improvements and retain students within a session and across sessions.
