MCAEL Network Dialogue with Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger
MCAEL invites you to a special Coalition Meeting we have arranged for all adult English literacy providers, staff and instructors in Montgomery County: A Dialogue with Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger. It will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the Rockville Library.
In the wake of anti-immigrant rhetoric and the post inauguration travel bans that the federal government has issued, many of you have let us know about the many concerns your learners have. You have asked us questions: “What should we be telling our learners?” “What is the Montgomery County Police Department doing?” “What is ICE doing?” In short, we know that you are all being faced with many uncertainties in an unpredictable landscape. When I recently heard a talk by Chief Manger, I thought that creating an opportunity for provider staff, instructors and others in our network to dialogue directly with the Chief, would be a good way to learn more about what the police department is doing in these uncertain times with regard to our immigrant community.
